I recently attended the Creativation Trade Show in Phoenix, Arizona. This is a trade show for the craft and hobby industry where manufacturers and craft businesses exhibit their latest products to craft and hobby store owners. It’s a fabulous event with workshops, live demonstrations, make & takes and a great way to see people face to face that we would normally only have contact with online.
This year our latest Darkroom Door products were on display at the Notions booth. Notions are our USA distributor.
This year I did classes with the Ranger designers: Tim Holtz, Dina Wakley and Dyan Reaveley. Loved all of their workshops and their new products, especially the Distress Oxide inks and Scribble Sticks!
Gel Press held a workshop to learn new techniques with the gel plates. I love all forms of printmaking, so I loved trying out some new ideas in this one!
One of the things I love about Creativation is the chance for me to catch up with friends in the industry. Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to teach at some great events which means I have made some fabulous friends. It’s great when I get to meet up with them at the show.
Being a bit of a mail art / postage nerd, I LOVED Tim’s ‘Correspondence’ fabric line that he released with Coats. Just take a look at this air mail bag!!!
I also loved meeting Eileen Hull who designs dies for Sizzix. Check out her new notebook die which means you can make your own Traveler’s Notebooks! Eileen had her own caravan there too that you could go sit in. I also loved seeing Nathalie Kalbach demo on the Art Foamies booth, and catching up with Nathalie and Birgit Koopsen.
Unfortunately I didn’t photograph all of the great products and people that I saw, but this gives you a little glimpse into the show. It’s always a great way to see what’s coming out this year and spark the imagination for new classes and ideas for the year ahead!
