Today I had the amazing opportunity to teach two classes at the Tsukineko Stamp Club in Tokyo for Ciao*Carina, one of our Darkroom Door stockists. Rina, who owns Ciao*Carina, organised the event and brought together a wonderful group of crafters who all loved creating some mixed media cards with Darkroom Door stamps and Tsukineko ink pads!
This is the building were the workshops were held, we were on the 7th floor.
We used a variety of stamps and inks, along with trying out a lot of different colouring and stamping techniques. I thought it may have been difficult to teach in English, only knowing a few Japanese words, but aside from having Rina to translate for me, many of the ladies could understand a little of what I was saying anyway! I also demonstrated each technique, so it was a lot easier when they could see how to do it 🙂
We had a lot of laughs throughout the day and I learned lots of new Japanese words too which is always great!
Here’s some of their amazing work:
They are all so talented and everyone’s cards were just beautiful!
The Tsukineko stamp club also has a store attached that is open when the stamp club is open. Of course I couldn’t help but fill my basket with lots of new ink pads and supplies!!
Here’s a photo of myself with Rina and our helpers – they were so gracious and kind, and very funny! After the class we all enjoyed a dinner together in a nearby restaurant. A fabulous ending to a wonderful day! Thank you so much Rina for organising it!
